What’s one of the best moments in any long distance relationship?
A “hello.” That wonderful moment when all the waiting for the next visit is finally over and they’re in your arms.
And what’s one of the hardest moments in any long distance relationship?
A “goodbye.” They absolutely suck, and they don’t seem to get much easier over time. In fact, many people think they get harder.
But here’s the good news about goodbye’s after a visit: If saying goodbye feels hard and sad, that means there’s an emotional connection there that means something. If they leave, or you come home from saying goodbye and the house (and your life) feels completely and unnaturally empty without them nearby, that means you care. A lot!
Let the heartache remind you that this whole long distance thing is worth it, and that you will see each other again. And be gentle…
